A festival for the ages.

Calendimaggio! The Calendimaggio festival stays in your heart forever. It is a mesmerizing and truly unique experience. The whole town of Assisi is decorated down to the minute detail to resemble the early beginnings of Assisi. Hundreds of people wear extravagant costumes and you really feel like you are walking through the streets of the Middle Ages. The spirit and passion of the performers are contagious and all the events, parades, dances, games are simply extraordinary! The festival takes place every year on the first Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of May to celebrate the beginning of Spring. And as I said in the episode, “The participation of the inhabitants is incredible!” I have to go back!!!
