Val di Funes

The stunning peaks of Val di Funes

The Val di Funes (Villnöss valley) is a small but captivating valley wedged between the majestic peak of the Odle mountain range.
Funes is defined as the “pearl of the Alps”, as it is one of the few unspoiled valleys rich in breathtaking landscapes. Slow travel and sustainability are the general trend here. It is the perfect place for a relaxing vacation while respecting the environment. You can explore the beauty of lush, wild nature, admire a variety of flora and fauna in the Puez-Odle nature park.
It is set in an idyllic location at the heart of the sixth out of nine Dolomite mountain ranges recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 2009 because of its uniqueness, geological significance and, last but not least, its beauty.
The Puez–Odle group will capture your attention due to its powerful monolith, which can be seen even from far away, and it will sweep you off your feet with its peculiar landscape which represents the planet’s entire history, preserved for evermore in the different stone strata, in the underground mudflats and fossils.
The crystal-clear blue mountain lakes dot the picturesque and intense green mountain meadows giving you a real feel of intact and pure nature.
The best way to explore the Dolomites of Villnöss valley is by walking and hiking. Nature lovers may enjoy many hiking trails. You will find everything from quiet walks, easy excursions towards the alpine huts, funny family excursions and exciting themed trials. Each trail offers wonderful panoramic views, and deep insight into a still intact natural and cultural landscape
